The How-To's of Addressing OSHA Complaints and Establishing a Safe Workplace

When:  Oct 3, 2016 from 01:00 PM to 02:00 PM (ET)

Description

In February of this year the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) began announcing local emphasis programs on Workplace Violence Hazards at Residential Intellectual and Developmental Disability Facilities, putting a special emphasis on tracking and citing violations in these facilities. Then in June, Secretary Perez of the Department of Labor announced that the agency was raising maximum penalties from OSHA by 78 percent, from $7,000 to $12,471.

As OSHA is focusing more on services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and significantly raising fines for workplace violations, it is more important than ever to ensure that providers of these services have a concrete workplace violence prevention program in place.

Join us for a webinar on October 3 at 1PM ET to discuss the latest OSHA initiatives and policies that impact disability service providers and receive training on how to prevent violence and OSHA violations. Jackie Moore, CEO of North Suffolk Mental Health Association, will share her experience with an OSHA investigation and provide her expertise on how to build and put into practice an effective and feasible workplace violence prevention program.
